Understanding Your Event Analytics
A plain-language guide to every number in your post-event report and how each one is calculated.
Key Metric Definitions
These are the four core numbers that appear in every analytics report we send after your event.
Total Shares (Share Events)
The number of times a guest tapped the share button. Each tap counts as one share event, regardless of which platform the guest shared to.
Total Share Data
The actual data volume behind those shares — the metadata and file transfers that occur each time a photo or video is sent from our app or microsite to a guest’s device or social platform.
Total Sessions
The number of unique guest interactions with the booth or kiosk. One session equals one guest completing the full booth experience from start to finish.
Total Views
How many times the gallery or individual media was opened and viewed — including visits by the guest after they leave the event and access their link later.
Impressions and Reach
Impressions and reach are based on actual platform shares through our app or microsite. Because specific social platforms limit what data they share with third parties, we calculate reach and impressions using intent signals and conservative industry statistics.
What is the difference between Impressions and Reach?
According to Facebook, impressions are the number of times a post is displayed. One person can see multiple impressions of the same post. For example, if someone sees a post in their News Feed and then sees it again when a friend shares it, that counts as 2 impressions.
Reach is the number of unique people who received at least one impression. Reach is always equal to or lower than impressions, because one person seeing a post multiple times still only counts as one in the reach figure.
Facebook and Twitter / X
When a guest shares directly from our microsite to Facebook or Twitter, we apply a 35% organic visibility rate — meaning approximately 35% of a user’s friends or followers will see that post.
35% of followers per post
Organic content from individual users consistently outperforms business page posts, which have seen reach drop to as low as 2% under recent algorithm changes. A post shared from a guest’s personal account benefits from that higher organic reach.
Example: A guest with 100 Facebook friends shares a photo. We estimate 35 people see it — 35 impressions and a reach of 35 from that single share.
Instagram’s API does not return follower counts for individual users. We apply the platform average of 150 followers per user, based on Statista data on average Instagram follower counts.
150 impressions / 54 reach per share
This gives us a consistent, conservative baseline for every Instagram share recorded through our system.
Email and Text
When a guest shares via email or text, we cannot track whether they subsequently post to social media. Based on years of industry experience, guests who share via text or email almost always follow up with a social post.
~101 impressions per email/text share
We use the PEW Research Center’s median friend count (101 friends per person) as the basis for email and text impression estimates, applying the same 35% visibility model used for Facebook.
Overall Impressions
Total impressions are calculated by adding together the estimated impressions from every share category.
Example: 100 email impressions + 100 Facebook impressions + 100 Twitter impressions = 300 estimated total impressions.
A Note on Methodology: These figures are estimates based on conservative, industry-standard models. Exact reach varies by user, platform algorithm, and content. We use this approach to provide a consistent, comparable baseline across all events rather than inflated projections.
